Rappelling og mountain climbing with Rjukan Adventure

Rjukan and Gaustablikk offer excellent vertical terrain featuring solid granite and gneiss. This is a guided activity suitable for beginners—including families, friends, and small groups—consisting of an initial rappel followed by top-rope climbing from the base of the same wall.

5 Aug 2026 – 27 Sep 2026

The event starts with a 30-meter rappel. From the bottom of the rappel, the group continues straight into rock climbing on a near vertical wall with routes ranging from grade 4c to approximately 6a.

All climbing is done on top ropes, with the instructor setting up and handling the ropes, anchors, belays, and safety systems. The entire trip takes about 4 hours from start to finish.

    Equipment and safety

All technical and safety equipment is included — harnesses, helmets, ropes, belays, anchors, and climbing shoes if needed. All you need is sturdy outdoor shoes, comfortable clothing, water, and a sense of adventure.

Your instructor is a certified climbing guide with extensive experience on local mountains. Safety is the top priority, and both the rappel system and all top rope systems are set up and handled by the instructor.

    Beginner-friendly climbing and rappelling

No previous climbing or rappelling experience is necessary. The wall is near vertical, but the top rope, step-by-step instruction and route selection make the session suitable for beginners. It is an advantage to be somewhat comfortable with heights, but the session is designed to feel clear, safe and supportive.
