A magical combination of heat and water
Ismåne is more than just a sauna—it’s the result of a passion for tradition and well-being. The sauna barrel is an UteSauna XL Ikon 1, installed in January 2024 after the previous one was unfortunately lost in a fire. The new model is more spacious and features a large panoramic window that blurs the line between the cozy warmth inside and the raw, beautiful nature outside.
As you sit here, you can gaze out over Lake Tinn stretching towards the horizon, while the wood-fired stove—fuelled with birch wood from our own forest—provides a deep, soothing heat that eases tired muscles after a day in the mountains.
The sauna takes its name from the magical “Ice Moon” that lit up the sky during its very first opening. Since then, Ismåne has become a gathering place for both guests and local year-round bathers. Norwegian sauna culture is experiencing a renaissance, and as a proud member of the Norwegian Sauna Association, we aim to offer a low-threshold, inclusive experience. Here, you can regulate the temperature yourself by adding more wood, and we always preheat the sauna so it’s warm and ready when you arrive.
Year-round bathing and refreshing contrasts
The greatest experiences lie in contrasts. We’ve made it easy with stone steps leading down to the water, allowing you to combine the sauna with a refreshing dip. As Lake Tinn is a regulated lake, the water level—and the path down to it—can vary by up to four meters throughout the year, a powerful reminder of the forces of nature surrounding us.
For those who really want to feel alive, we recommend joining our local year-round bathing community on Facebook, where connection and the joy of cold-water bathing are at the heart of the experience.
