The route starts at Gausta Ski Centre. Follow the paved path from the hotel, past the ski centre. After approximately 100 metres, turn left up the gravel road marked towards Gaustablikk mountain cabins. From the gravel road, turn right onto the ski trail and follow it up the slopes until you reach the top of the lift. As you round Skipsfjell, you will come to a scenic viewpoint overlooking Rjukan and facing Gaustatoppen. The ski slope is just around the corner; follow the trail back down to Gaustablikk.
